Open Roberta server installation guide

Hello from the German Int'l School in Boston.  We have been using Open Roberta for some time in our middle- and high-school curriculum.  At times, we have issues maintaining connections between our Chromebooks, our EV3s, and the Open Roberta server at Fraunhofer.  I would like to set up a local server to work around this, but I have not been able to find instructions on how to set up an Open Roberta server.  I spent some time on wikis and on various fora, to no avail.  Is this information available?  Can you point me to the right url?

Hello Mr. Nardin,

 

For installing a local version of Open Roberta Server on a Linux computer first you have to install maven,  java 8 JDK and  Git.

 

If you are using a Ubuntu distribution please follow the next steps:

 

1.  For installing the java 8 JDK please check the following link http://tipsonubuntu.com/2016/07/31/install-oracle-java-8-9-ubuntu-16-04-linux-mint-18/

2.  For installing the Maven  run the following command in terminal:

       
       sudo apt-get install maven

 

3. Run the following command in terminal to install Git:

                   
        sudo apt-get install git-all

 

4. For downloading the Open Roberta Server clone the repository:

 

                    git clone https://github.com/OpenRoberta/robertalab.git

 

5. Next, go to OpenRobertaParent folder and run the following command in terminal:

                mvn clean install

6. For running the Open Roberta Server go to robertalab folder and run the following command in terminal:

                    ./ora.sh --start-from-git
