Looking at last night's guiding statistics in PHD2 Log Viewer, I am curious to know if the average RMS calculation in the statistics window includes the impact or effect of dithering, or does the RMS exclude those outside figures?

I assume that the "Peak" statistic is the effect of my dither command, since it is always consistent with my dither amount.

If the RMS average includes the dither stats, I'm wondering how easy it would be to exclude it. I see in the graph window that PHD2 identifies the dither command and recovery, so the information should be there at a high level.

Is this what the "exclude frames settling" does when right clicking the graph? Looking at this further as I type this out, it appears as though the settling time after dither is greyed out and thus excluded from the RMS calculations. Is my understanding correct?

Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry.  If you’re running the latest release, there is a ‘Settings’ function under the ‘File’ menu.  That brings up a dialog that specifies what is done about dithering events:

Hope this helps,

Bruce

It’s in the 0.5.1 release.   This will get you to the right one:

Thanks Bruce.

I didn't know that option was there. Now I see how it is all working.

Thanks for pointing that out to me.
