Hi!

I am experimenting with my setup: I have a Raspberry Pi at the telescope, and I connect to this R-Pi over my LAN with my laptop. I use INDI/Ekos to control the mount and camera. So I have an INDI-server running on the R-Pi, and Kstars and Ekos on my laptop, connecting Ekos to the remote INDI-server on the R-Pi.

Now, I'd like to use PHD2 in addition to this. What I've tried now, is to run PHD2 on my laptop and connect remotely to the INDI-server and the guidecam (QHY5). It connects nicely. However, when I start Ekos, to run my camera (DSLR) and control the mount, Ekos is also connected to the guidecam. From this moment on, when I capture an image with the guidescope, it is sent to Ekos and not to PHD2. So PHD2 ceases to work, as soon as I try to Ekos (to run my DSLR camera)......

(I do hope this description makes sense....)

Is there a way to manage this?

Best,

Magnus

Hi Magnus,

INDI can send the images from one camera to more than one application.
But it is best if only one try to set the exposure time and other options.
A critical INDI option is "your ccd tab"/Options/Upload. It must remain to "Client" because if set to "Local" the images are only recorded on the RPi.

But it may be best to tell Ekos to not connect to the QHY5 at all. I cannot help with that but you can ask on the INDI forum.

If this is not possible from Ekos you can run a separate INDI server for the QHY5 and connect Ekos only to the one with the DSLR and the mount.
In PHD2 you can set a different server for each device, so you can connect one for the QHY5 and the other for the mount.

Hi!

Great, thanks. And I got this from the Indi-forum: The command for starting another instance of indiserver, if someone else has the same problem:

indiserver -v -p 8000 indi_qhy5_ccd

Of course, the specific indi module to load dependes on camera. Mine is a QHY5.

Best,

Magnus

Hi there Magnus,
I'm not sure if your still using this set-up. I'm doing the same thing myself. I can't seem to get Ekos to work with my Qhy5ii. Everything connects great, but when I go to the guiding module it seems fine when I start it.. But it's like the Qhy5ii is not capturing anything.
So like yourself I'd like to use phd2 via Ekos.
Can you tell me how exactly you managed this, if you don't mind?
I can't seem to see any option in phd2 settings for indi.
Cheers
Jason.
