I have finally gotten my guiding to a decent place.

Would you please review and make suggestions?

1. PEC training done with CPWI and Celestron CGEM
2. Polar alignment with SharpCap. (I got it to "Excellent" but watching it without adjusting, it goes back and forth from "Good" to "Excellent". Seeing?)
3. The sky was clear murky very bright stars visible to naked eye.
4. Checked "Drift Align" with PhD2 and the lines are pretty straight. I made no adjustments as I wanted to see if Sharp Cap polar align was sufficient. Previous attempts at drift align show only a very small turn of azimuth adjustment screw (3-5 degrees) is required and maybe within tolerance of mechanical error.
5. I notice the RMS oscillation is very low.

In general, would you recommend drift align in addition to Sharp Cap Polar align?

Thanks,
Don

Hi Don

I think we need some better data from you to provide reasonable feedback

First, please update to the latest DEV release https://openphdguiding.org/development-snapshots/

use the calibration assistant to calibrate your mount followed by at least 30 minutes of unguided via the guiding assistant

A quick review of your results
- I wonder how effective if at all the PEC is. If you don't perform it properly it can make things worse
- backlash compensation is not enabled
- polar alignment could use some improvement
- RA looks pretty rough, 1.46" total RMS. The mount doesn't appear very responsive to corrections, and it may relate back to the PEC
