Does the difference between backlash compensation Min and Max values have to be >20ms to auto-adjust?

Auto adjust sets the value between min and max so yes you need max to be higher but for min at 20ms is fine. Guiding assistant run will tell you the measured backlash so you could at max slightly higher than that

Thanks Brian.  I guess that explains why it never moves from where it settled at 32ms after at some point I changed min and max to 20ms and 35ms respectively.

20-35ms is effectively near zero backlash.

Use the guiding assistant and measure your backlash. If you’re seeing this as an issue post your guidelines. Usually it’s more in the 300-800ms range.
