I noticed in the FAQ the QHY5 series camera isn't supported.

Just checking back to confirm that's still true? if so, that's a bummer. it's perfect for my OAG

Brian, the QHY5 has long been out of production -- is that really the camera you are talking about?  All the current QHY cameras are supported, like the popular QHY5-II guide cameras.

I have the qhy5L-Ii but I haven't been able to get it working. Glad to hear you mean pre II Version

The ascom driver for the ii keeps throwing a protected memory access error. I'll have to hunt they down

HI Brian one problem I did have when I tried to download the ascom driver from qhy,is my firewall for Windows said it was an unsafe download, but I had to override that by clicking download anyway, and then it worked.

Hmm.. I have an original QHY5 that I recently bought cheaply off eBay and it works well with PHD2 on Ubuntu 16.04. it's true I had to update the driver, but QHY still maintain the driver. I believe it's still the original chip in the newer cameras.

Steve.

That's right, the original QHY5 works in PHD2 on Linux, but not Windows or Mac. Here's link to our camera support wiki page https://github.com/OpenPHDGuiding/phd2/wiki/CameraSupport

Hi Guy's'

Just for a matter of interest.
I have a QHY5 camera and it works fine on my windows10pro. However, in saying this, I have two laptops and one desktop which are old 2 core systems. Only one of the laptops has a problem loading the QHY5 driver but I believe this may be due to me interrupting the Windows upgrade and deleting some of the files. I'm sure once I do a complete install of windows10 it will work fine. My windows is the latest 1709 to date.
I'm thinking maybe the Home version of Windows maybe an issue.

Cheers
Robin

Hi Robin,

It should not matter to PHD2 which version of Windows you have. If you do run into trouble with one of the systems. please let us know and we can help find out why it is not working and come up with a solution.
