The LX200 Classics don't accept pulse guiding, so it's necessary to use the ST4 system. I've been guiding with PHD2 reasobably well using my ASI120 mono and its ST4 connection to the mount's CCD (guiding) port. However, it's apparent that the ASI120 won't function in 16 bit mode with ST4 and drops unilaterally to 8 bit. So, thanks to the generosity of a fellow member, I now have a Shoestring GPUSP gizmo to try and resolve this annoyance. The question is, how do I set this up in the Profile Wizard? I'm trying this experimentally on a pc not connected with the telescope.

I've installed the ASCOM driver for the GPUSB adapter and tried setting it as the 'Mount' (previously I used 'On Camera'). However, this causes the 'Aux Mount' selector to be grayed out, meaning my usual 'ASCOM-Meade Classic' driver can't be used. If I retain 'On-Camera' for the Mount setting, I can then select the GPUSB ASCOM driver for the 'Aux Mount'. But now, PHD2 won't receive the RS232-USB pointing info from the mount. As I see it, the system needs three USB connections to cover all the bases, so where am I going wrong?
Cheers,
- Jack

Hi Jack.  Just use the native GPUSB driver interface that’s part of PHD2, not the separate ASCOM driver.  I just ran the new-profile-wizard and produced this profile:

I think your guide camera is still going to fail into 8-bit mode, so you should probably bite the bullet it and just configure it as 8-bit.

I concur with forgoing the 16-bit attempt.  You can get good SNRs with the 8-bit mode, and guiding works well.

Hmm, yes I feared there'd be a hitch. I went down this path after assuming my original '16 bit' setting was guiding normally. When that stopped working, it seemed I'd lost CCD port on the Meade. Obviously now, the system was running in 8 bit all the time. My thanks to all who guided me around the circle.
