I am migrating PHD2 to a new computer and would like to copy the following from the existing machine

Profile and settings
Dark Library
Bad Pixel Map

Can you please tell me where these are stored and what folders / files to copy?

Thanks in advance!

I can't help with dark library and hot pixel files, but you can export ad then import your equipment profiles.

Open PHD2 on your old PC
Click Connect Equipment icon (lower left)
Click Manage Profiles
Click Export
The profiles are stored with a phd extension in any location you want.

Reverse the process on your new PC.

Hi Bill.  The location of the dark and defect files depend on your OS, but I’ll assume you’re running a fairly current version of Windows.  In that case, they would live in this folder:

C:\users\<your_user_id>\AppData\Local\phd2\darks_defects

Re-using them could be a little tricky because the files are matched to their profiles by number, not by name.  And the bad-pix map involves multiple matching files as you’ll see from the file names.  Personally, I wouldn’t do any of this, I’d just take the opportunity to rebuild them.  If you have multiple profiles that share the same guide camera, you can share a single dark library or bad-pix map among those profiles – so you only need to build them once in that situation.

Good luck,

Bruce
