PHD2 v2.6.1 New release and Mac air OS X ( Yosemite )

Dear S.Gazers,

 

Tempted by Open PHD’s new release Download v2.6.1
for Mac OS X,

downloaded this new release from http://openphdguiding.org/downloads/

 

Spent a couple of hours trying to get this program going

on a Mac air (Yosemite) using QHY5L-II,and KWQdriver

and ST4 port with mount on camera.

After connecting the equipments, When I hit the looping button,

Voila, PHD closes with error message, Ignore or continue.

If i continue the same error message appears again and again.

 

Is there a way around this problem or am i doing something very wrong.

Any help is much appreciated,

We'll have a better chance of being able to help if you send us your PHD2 debug log.

Also, it would be good to see if the problem also happens with the PHD2 camera simulator. Setup a new equipment profile (Connect Equipment => Manage Profiles => New using wizard) with Camera = Simulator and Mount = On-camera, then try looping exposures and guiding.  Does that work?  If so we'll know that that the problem is related to the camera driver and we can diagnose it from there (with the debug log).

Thanx 4 the tip. Well, it works flawlessly in simulator mode.Again,no success with QHY5-ll camera.

Rush, Thanks for the log and running the experiment with the simulator. That confirms it is a problem with the KWIQ Guider camera driver in PHD2 handling the QHY5L-II.  I just contacted the developer who provided the KWIQ Guider driver support in PHD2 to see if he can help.

The developers at QHY have a new camera support kit that we would like to integrate into PHD2.  One of the earlier version of the kit had OSX support, and we are waiting for QHY to provide an updated kit with OSX support.  You may want to contact QHY and ask them as a customer when their new camera SDK will be available for OSX.

Andy, Thanx much, I was suspecting the same, Since im not familiar with the log language, was unable to make out the real problem.
Well, I will ask them and if they supply me me a definite answer,will keep u updated.On the otherhand if u get the kit update,give me a hint.

HI Andy,

After nudging QHY people for so long,finally got the SDK upgrade QHY5L-II and EZ capture for Mac.
They were really awesome helpfull, EZ capture runs flawlessly on Mac. Great, eventhough i  dont do any planterary  imaging.
Dear Andy ,to be honest i dont have that much knowledge to develop library files into an excuting programm.
Is there way around or do you want to wait till they send you the SDK update. Any official limitations or law regulations regarding file distribution ?

Yes,
after i tested the Mac EZ capture which is almost similar,They send me the SDK upgrade.
Should i ask them for permission to hand you this SDK upgrade?
Im a bit confused regarding al the restriction stuff.

I too am trying to run PHD2 on the Mac with the QHY5L-ii (mono). I received an email from QHY with the SDK. I have not installed as yet as I am at work at the moment. Are there any new developments. Will this SDK allow the QHY to run on Mac using PHD2?

Hi Al,

The new QHY SDK requires code changes in PHD2 which are on the phd2_qhy fork on github.  The current status is that the Windows version of the SDK seems to be stable as reported by several users who have tested it. The OSX version is not yet stable (crashes on my Mac) and the QHY developers are currently looking into it. When they get back to me with a fix I will test it and if it works I'll publish a new version of PHD2 and post an announcement in this forum.
