Problems getting HEM44 to Calibrate

First time out with my new-to-me iOptron HEM44 and having all kinds of problems getting it to calibrate.  Polar alignment is fine, and I created a new profile in PHD2 just to be sure that wasn't it.  Calibration out-and-back will not go back to starting point.  What else should I be looking for here?

Turns out polar alignment might not have been "fine".  Was able to calibrate after re-aligning.  Mount guiding much rougher than I'd expect but I'll troubleshoot more and upload the logs per the forum instructions.
