Hi,

I upgrade AM5 firmwear to 1.8.6 in 17-12-2025, I wish I didn't !!
before that date I was guiding with RMS 0.6-0.8  in all my sessions..
Now the RMS is 0.8-1.2 AND spikes are everywhere, See pictures please, and that happened before and after meridian.
I double checked everything, cables snags, balance, using Heavy duty mode in AM5 and make sure everything is firmly connected,  all of that not useful !
Anyone faced this issue?

I am thinking to Downgrade\ Rollback to the previous firmwear but afraid I will do something wrong with the software and maybe AM5 fail completely !!

NB: I used exactly the same rig for over 6 months without changing any hardware piece.

Log is here:

What do you think?

Appreciated any hint !

Can you send a few pictures of your setup from different angles

No way to know if the firmware has changed things from your guidelogs. However, I can see you were fiddling with settings that probably made things worse (i.e., reducing aggressiveness). strainwave mounts need to be guided pretty aggressively, and you were going in the opposite direction. It also looks like something in your system was rotated at some point and compromised your guiding.

About a year ago I accidentally upgraded my AM5 mount firmware from 1.1.2 to 1.6.3 and lost some communication features with the mount (if I move the mount with the hand controller, the computer, NINA,  can't move the mount after that until I "Home" the mount).  I was unable to find any way to fall back to the earlier version.  ZWO was of no use to me in fixing this.

So, If you find a way to fall back to the earlier version of the software, please let me know.

Thanks Brain

As I am a traveller AP my setup is not ready now, I will try to find a photo.
Anyway it's pretty simple.. AM5, Askar 200acl and zwo tripod all firmly connected, balanced and cables are organised.

Regarding changing agg. And settings in phd2, corrections pulses were too high that pulls Dec. Or Ra. To the other side of the graph so you have too decrease no to increase.

Anyway.. I know my mount well..never gives such jumps all the session, and that what made me to doubt the firmware update.

I am thinking to make another try when the sky permits.. and if it will behave like this surely I will contact zwo..

Why you didn't upgrade to the after firmware? 1.6.3 is way too old
Maybe you could catch 1.7.7, but now the only available FW is 1.8.6 and I am in doubt about it (at least until now),
I will try to guide in 2 or 3 days and see, Maybe I am wrong!
Thank you about your post

The ZWO AM5 manual that I have actually says to NOT upgrade the software if it is working for you.  I upgraded as a result of a fat-finger click mistake.
