Hi!

For the moment my other topic is irrelevant... I can only connect to the cam in Linux..

So: anyone who can help with getting Win 7 to connect to this cam? I've installed drivers from http://www.qhyccd.com/Download.html, tried the WDM webcam version, but PHD2 cannot connect, and Win7 says cam is not properly installed. Tried the driver + update for QHY5, same problem. Linux says the cam is QHY5-CMOS, and on it is written ALCCD5. It's bought second hand.

Note that it connects nicely in Linux, through the INDI drver, and PHD2 run in linux can connect. However, since I'd like to control the telescope via ASCOM, I'd at least like to try it in Win. (Maybe better to control mount via ST4-port, on-cam?)

Anyone got advice on what to try?

Best,

Magnus

Magnus,

We are getting close to releasing a new development build of PHD2 that uses an updated camera library from QHY that should support the QHY5 on Windows, Mac, and Linux.  If you want to contact me off-list I can send you a test build and we can see if the new library works with your QHY5 on Windows.

Before I sold my QHY5 and purchased the qhy5l-ii i suffered an issue with a firmware crash on the qhy5...its a well documented issue on their website!easily fixable but it will not connect until fixed!

Could this be your issue with the windows non connecting?

Try this,

Hrm... link in that posts sends me just to the forum index, though. Any other links?

Strange thing is that the drivers and all seems to work in Win 10. But I would need it to work in Win 7, which is what I have on my observational laptop...

Sorry I can't be 9f any more assistance... But this is a quote from that thread.

If you find that your computer suddently can't locate the QHY5, or if your VID/PID changes (probably to USB\VID_FF18&PID_0901) then maybe you'll stumble on this thread and it will point you in the right direction.

Magnus,
The QHY5 will not connect directly in Win7, but will using ASCOM. See the thread I started March 8 entitled "Connecting KWIQ Guider (QHY5) on Win 7 64-bit Laptop."  As you can see, others have same problem.

Hi!

OK. However, when I try, I get an error msg saying that there is a missing DLL-file: QHY5VDLL.DLL. Got any idea on how to solve that? I just installed the ASCOM drivers, nothing else...

Best,

Magnus
