Hello All!

I purchased the Astromania SGCMOS Series Telescope CMOS Camera to use as a guide camera, see link below.

I am having a ton of trouble getting PHD to recognize the camera, could possibly be a driver issue. The computer sees the device but for some reason does not show up as an available camera to use for PHD.

Any ideas?

Hi David.  The link you posted claims they have an ASCOM driver for the camera.  I’d suggest installing that, at which point PHD2 should be able to use that interface.

Good luck,

Bruce

I'm not sure what drivers they are referring to. I was not able to find anything on the ASCOM site.

A couple comments

1.  From Amazon Q&A

2. The Amazon description suggests that the CD has the drivers.

HI David.  It’s hard to figure out where this thing comes from and who supports it.  But evidently people have figured some things out – take a look at the questions and answers section on this page:

https://www.amazon.com/Astromania-SGCMOS-Telescope-CMOS-Camera/dp/B01HPW8MWI

Make sure you look at all the Q&A.

By physical appearance of the camera and packaging, it looks to be a re-branded ToupTek camera. In addition to the ASCOM driver option, you could try
the native ToupTek camera support in the most recent versions of PHD2 [PHD2 Development Builds].

Please let us know if the native mode works so we can update our supported cameras wiki page.
