Hi - I have searched to see if this was already answered, but didn't find anything... so I apologize if I'm asking something already answered.  But here goes.

As I understand it - when you use the Predictive PEC guiding algorithm, each time you start a guiding session in a particular position in the sky, PHD2 has to gather data on the PEC for that guiding session before it starts using the Predictive PEC algorithm.  My question is - what algorithm does it use from the beginning of the guiding session until it has enough data to use the Predecitve PEC? Is it the default Hysterisis algorithm?  Mainly just a curiosity to me, but I would like to know.

Also - the website is still down (11/16/2022 @ 4:02 EST).  Is there an eta for it coming back up?  I saw a Cloudy Nights post from back in Mid October with the same message I saw here about a power problem.  Has the site been down since mid October?  Again just curious what is up with this.

Thanks,
John D.

I think the one place you didn’t search was the ‘Algorithms’ section of the manual. 😊  The online version isn’t available because the support server Is down but you can just run PHD2 and use the ‘Help’ menu to get to the manual.

Our server went down yesterday and we hope to have it back online tomorrow night or Friday.

Regards,

Bruce

Hi John

>>>My question is - what algorithm does it use from the beginning of the guiding session until it has enough data to use the Predecitve PEC? Is it the default Hysterisis algorithm?

Roughly, yes that is correct. It actually starts with hysteresis and then gradually adds PPEC over a few periods.
