Showing my ignorance here.

I've seen a couple of references to PHD's driver for the Lodestar.
Can someone point me to its location?

Thanks,
Mark

Not really "PHD's driver" but is uses them.
The ASCOM driver is here: http://www.daddog.com/ascom/sxcamera
The native SX driver here:  https://www.sxccd.com/drivers-downloads

I personally like the ASCOM driver..but they both work

Kevin

There's actually a third driver option: a native SX driver inside PHD2 (working on Windows, Linux and if I remember well also on Mac).

And there is a fourth SX driver: in INDI http://indilib.org/devices/ccds/starlight-xpress-ccd.html

Hans and Kevin,
Thanks for your responses.

Hans,
how do I go about executing the driver inside PHD2?  I've looked, but have not seen it anywhere within PHD2.

It looks like this on Linux :

I do not have an MS-Windows system so I cannot make a screen shot of how the native SX driver shows up there.
Here's the code of it fwiw : https://github.com/OpenPHDGuiding/phd2/blob/master/cam_SXV.cpp
so it should be "Starlight Xpress SXV" on MS-Windows too.

Yes, that’s right:

Think I'm just digging a deeper hole here.

The screen shot from Bruce shows the Starlight Xpress SXV driver that I have always used.
I had always assumed this selection was pointing to the vendor's driver which I have loaded on my machine.
Not true?

Mark,

You are correct that it is using the vendor-provided driver. On Windows the picture is like this:

Native camera mode:

[(1) Vendor-provided hardware driver]  <----> [(2) PHD2 built-in camera driver (aka SDK)] <-----> [(3) PHD2 guiding code]

ASCOM camera mode

[(1) Vendor-provided hardware driver]  <----> [(2) vendor-provided ASCOM camera driver] <--------> [(3) PHD2 ASCOM camera code] <-----> [(4) PHD2 guiding code]

The Vendor-provided driver is what allows the camera to show up in Windows Device Manager.  You always need that installed regardless of whether you are using ASCOM or PHD2 native camera mode.  To answer your original question about the location of the SX camera hardware driver: you can download it from the SX website (SX Downloads)

HTH,
Andy
