I have been thinking about buying a new Ioptron HEM27 mount, essentially new in box. I asked for a review/return period and got to run it tonight.  It seemed to work OK and I was able to run three-minute subs and 5 min subes with a bit more movement.
Pretty good performance, but the guidelogs look stranger - possibly necause I wass guessing at parameters.
Any interpretation/advice much appreviate

It looks a little strange to me

First the raw periodic error is fairly high 30"
i have no idea how much is this mount, but that's quite high

In addition, it has a strange flat top to the period, unlike the bottom of the curve

You can see it also has a rather large dec stiction, which takes many dozens (hundreds?) of steps to break and then it snaps to overcorrect and you have the opposite side stiction problem

of the two i'd say dec is your constraint and it looks mechanical

It doesn’t look to me like this testing was done with the real PHD2, so I don’t think I can give you any advice.

Good luck – you will no doubt need it.
