Hello,

I am trying to connect the new skywatcher AZ GTI in EQ mode to Phd2  .  When I run the wizard and chose indi mount, I do not get any option to chose the indi mount drive; the drop down is empty/disabled.

Even trying to start Phd2 from ekos, PHD2-mount connection fails. Mount connection window in Phd2 shows that indi is connected . When the indi button is clicked it loads all the indi properties including the mount. Enabled verbose logging also shows me the mount commands, yet phd2 doesn't connect to mount.

I am using indi_synscan_telescope as mount driver and do not have troubles controlling the mount via ekos.

Attached the debug logs . Could you please advise ?

Thank you .

Hi
To be able to guide from PHD2, I think you'll need either an st4 camera
to mount (on-camera) cable or -better **- the indi-eqmod driver
connected by an eqdir cable.
HTH and clear skies,
Steve

**working here with indi-eqmod and eq6

HI Steve.

indi-eqmod driver does no work for controlling this Skywatcher mount. I don't need any additional cables because the guiding is done over the wifi via the synscan app. This works with windows and I've tested it.

I am using ZWO 120mm-s as the guide camera ,PHD2 does recognize it. Its just the mount its failing to connect with.

Regards
Tarun

Hi Tarun,

PHD2 requires the driver to support the INDI GUIDER interface, and apparently the synscan driver does not provide that functionality.  It provides the ordinary mount capabilities like slewing, syncing and parking, but no guide capability.  I think you'll need to post in the INDI forum to see if the driver can be updated to provide GUIDER capability.

Ideally PHD2 should be allowing the synscan mount to connect as an Aux mount, but PHD2 is being overly restrictive and excluding that option. That's a bug in PHD2 that we will fix (#715)

For now you'll need to guide through the camera: select "On-camera" as the mount in PHD2.   When we fix #715, you'll be able to connect the mount as the Aux mount in PHD2.

Andy,

This is what you and I were talking about I think as well? Use of INDI for a SkyWatcher mount.  Is the AUX Mount bug fixed and what will that add?

Thanks..
Jay S.

Yes, #715 was fixed (you can click the link to see the status in the PHD2 Issue Tracker).  Before the fix, PHD2 did not allow INDI mounts that had no pulse guide capability to be selected as Aux Mounts.

Thanks..
