to Open PHD Guiding
Been
looking on the web for assistance regarding issues I am having with PHD guiding
connected to an older Celestron Advanced GT mount. I have a Meade and a SkyWatcher that both have
used PHD with the same guide camera and I am not having issues. However, the same guide camera and guide
scope mounted on a Newtonian affixed to the GT mount produces errors. “RA star did not move enough” as I
recall. I have checked the guide scope’s
and guide camera’s specs and they are entered correctly into the program. The telescope is all balanced in the GT. However, I think the issue is either with
ASCOM drivers or the fact that, in the program’s selection flyout for the Mount
box, there is no listing for a Celestron Advanced GT mount. I must pick Generic Hub (ASCOM). I have all ASCOM drivers installed and
working fine with other mounts. I do not
use the “On-camera" ST-4 cord but I have tried it and I get the same error. The Advanced GT hand controller is connected
to the laptop via the USB cable from the hand controller’s mini-USB plug. Oh, COM ports have also been verified. I have adjusted the mount’s RA and Dec gears
to eliminate any gear meshing slop. So, I
do not understand what the issue is.
Same program works fine on the other two mounts. I will admit though, that my Meade LX200GPS,
a forked mounted mount on a wedge, did give me errors until I got it properly
balanced and did away with the ST-4 cable.
What do you think the problem is with the Celestron Advanced GT mount? Any suggestions on settings?
