Hi.

Phd2 initial selection of multiple stars works well but in a couple of ocassions after a meridian flip or re-centering after drift the selection of guidong star results in no multiple stars selected. Nevertheless if I detect it and I manually reload the capture and click select Phd2 selects 6 to 8 stars.

Enclosed the link with the log.

Guiding equipment: Askar 52 super ED (52mm and 249 mm of focal) and ASI 220 mini. NINA.

I think this problem is self-inflicted.  You configured NINA to only use a small region of interest for auto-selecting stars, 1152x648, starting at {384, 216}:

Star::AutoFind called with edgeAllowance = 0 searchRegion = 20 roi = 1152x648@384,216

When you do an auto-find manually, you're taking advantage of the entire sensor which is 1920x1080 in your case.  It's not surprising that you get more guide star candidates in a larger search region.  I can't imagine why you've configured NINA to enforced this restriction, but that's why you ran into this problem.

Bruce

Thank you very much. It is indeed my fault. I had a 30mm guide scope that was a disaster—full of massive aberrations—so I heavily restricted the field of view, as the stars were only marginally usable in the center. When I switched to the new 52mm guide scope, I forgot to change that setting. Thanks a lot for the quick response.

Thank you so much, Bruce. I did set that restriction myself, back when I had a horrible 30 mm guide scope that showed significant aberrations at the edges. I later switched to a new 52 mm guider scope that gives me pinpoint stars in all the field  but I never removed the restriction. It was entirely my fault. I really appreciate your quick reply.

Best regards,
Julio
