Hi Everyone,

I've been continuing development of my free PEMPro Log Viewer application. This version fixes a few bugs and adds a couple new features relevant to displaying PHD2 log files.. (See the attached picture)

1) A new "Add guiding" option for PHD2 log files. It adds the approximate movement from the autoguider move into the graph so you can see what the approximate tracking of the mount would be if autoguiding been turned off. Note that this is only an approximation because many mounts do not move precisely.

2) A new color-coded Segment section that shows information from the PHD2 guide section. The color coding legend is::

Orange -> Section start and guide column definitions
Blue -> PHD2 parameters
Yellow -> Parameter values
Dark Green -> PHD2 samples (no move issued)
Light Green -> PHD2 samples (move issued)
Light Red -> Dropped frame

A minor update. This fixes an issue that can happen if a guide log has no segments:

If anyone else sees a bug please let me know.

Thanks,

Hi Ray,

Is the PEMPro code portable to Linux and Mac ?
Can PEMPro be used to program PEC ?

Hi Hans,

Just to be clear, the "PEMPro Log Viewer" is a different application than "PEMPro". PEMPro can program a mount's PEC mechanism. PEMPro Log Viewer is just for analysis of log data.

PEMPro was designed to be easily ported to either LINUX or Mac, but ASCOM isn't available for LINUX or OS/X, so that part of PEMPro would require the most effort. It's on my radar, but to make it easier to support I have something in mind for ASCOM that will hopefully evolve it to work with LINUX and OS/X.

Thanks Vince!

BTW, I just released a new build that should display well with high-resolution laptop and desktop screens (as well as normal resolution screens):

I have not been able to find if there is way to set the log lookup folder.  It always default to C:\Users\userid\Documents\CCDWare\PEMPro Log Viewer

Have I missed a setting somewhere?  If not, then I suggest an improvement is to allow the user to set and retain the lookup folder for the log files.  I am not going to store log files in the above folder, but will leave them in the original app folder, e.g. PHD2.

Hi Bryan,

When you successfully open a log file the directory which contains the log should be used next time you try to open a log.

If you are using the new v1.3.0.0 I released today, is that not working for you?

Yes, 1.3.1 works as you describe.  I should have tried it out before sending the note which pertained to previous versions.

Apologies!  AND Thanks!

Ok, thanks for checking Bryan. I thought I had fixed that a little while back but you had me second guessing that!

Hi Ray. i tried your new program last night, it looks great, i could not load a file unfortunately but i need to watch the video first.

my question is regarding mount types, i could not see an EQ8 mount type in there, i looked several times.....is it supported?

Hi Ray,

You should be able to load any PHD2 log file into PPLV (PEMPro Log Viewer). If you have one that doesn't work, please post it and I'll figure out what's wrong and fix it.

That said, PPLV uses the "Mount Type" to pull the worm period and possibly "interesting" frequencies from text files that are installed along side PPLV. If you know the EQ8's worm period (or the number of teeth in its worm wheel) I will add it's values in the next build.

Thanks Ray...the worm period is circa 198sec......teeth on the worm wheel is 435 ....with a 1:1 drive ...435:1

Hoping Ray is still monitoring posts here as I don't know how else to contact him.
There appears to be a bug in PemPro LogViewer 1.4.0
When calibration was done at relatively high declinations the drift on both RA and Dec axes appears to be erroneously corrected for the declination and appears exaggerated. Setting the declination to 0.0 on the dropdown at the top of the graph appears to give more sensible numbers.
