Hi everyone, I’m new and really need some help. I have spent hours trying to figure out why all I am seeing is static when I start looping. I’m not sure if this is cause of a focus issue or something else. The provided image and video show what it looks like. Both the guide camera and the mount are connected. Any ideas where I should start to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks

Glen

you can start with sending your log files

What is your equipment? is this a separate guide scope and camera, an oag, ?

I suggest you confirm your guide camera is focused during the daytime by pointing at something in the distance and using a very short exposure. you may need to do it in twilight if it's too bright.

Hello Brian,

I have decided to reinstall windows on the mini pc to try to rule out a driver issue first. I will reconfigure everything and post back here if my issue does not resolve. Thank You.

I have removed and reinstalled the latest camera driver from SVBONY. The camera is a SV905C. It appears to connect to PHD2.
When I start looping, a few seconds after starting, I get a message saying lost connection to the camera. It attempts to reconnect but fails.
I am completely at a loss on why it is doing this.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks

Hi Glen.  When you joined the group, I sent you some initial advice on isolating camera connection problems:

"The Trouble-Shooting section of the User Guide describes a systematic way to isolate camera connection problems.  Assuming you are connecting to the right camera in the first place, the problems nearly always turn out to be USB or driver-related.  Fortunately, most of this can be investigated during the daytime using the trouble-shooting guide."

Have you done any of this?  One of the first recommended steps is to update PHD2 to the latest dev release which is now 2.6.13dev8.  This is important because the camera manufacturers update their software over time and PHD2 may need to be updated to remain in-synch.  Looking at the web page for our dev releases and the various release notes, I can see there was an update to the SvBony camera software back in January.  You're still running on the original 2.6.13 baseline release which pre-dates that, so you should update PHD2 as the first step:

The problem you're having is that PHD2 can't successfully start a camera exposure which is quite basic.  It's possible that simply updating to the 2.6.13dev8 release will fix the problem but if it doesn't, you will need to march through the test steps in the Trouble-shooting guide.  That will involve replacing USB cables, possibly using a USB hub, going through USB-related settings in Windows... the list goes on.

Good luck,
Bruce
