DirectGuide un-selects itself

Hello.  I'm wondering if anyone has any info on this issue:  I'm using PHD2 to guide a Paramount MX+ via Voyager.  Unfortunately, Voyager insists on only connecting to PHD2 if PHD2 is not connected to its equipment yet, and commands PHD2 to connect to its equipment when connection with Voyager is made (and disconnect from its equipement when Voyager disconnects).  In the context of an automated script, Voyager might have to disconnect/reconnect to PHD2 a few times in a day.  PHD2 connects to TSX and needs to use DirectGuide to work - and even to connect in the first place.  There is a clickable button to choose DirectGuide in the PHD2 preferences for TSX.

Sometimes, but not every time or even most times, PHD2 will un-check that DirectGuide button and will no longer be able to connect to TSX.  I have to go into the PHD2 TSX preferences and re-select DirectGuide, and then it will work again for a while.

Does anyone have any idea why that DirectGuide button sometimes gets de-selected?

Thanks!
Mike

can you please upload your logs for this? use the log uploader from PHD

I assume 'directguide button' you mean in the driver? PHD does not control that at all, nor does it have any idea it even exists.

As Brian said, PHD2 has no control over this.  The behavior you're seeing is related to a bug in the SB driver and several people have reported it happens when the mount is slewed while guiding is active.  If you can avoid this situation, you may get better results.

Good luck,
Bruce

Thank you both.  Thank you for the advice to avoid slewing while active - I do see this happen sometimes and will have to tighten up the scripts.  Of course, it would be nice if SB lived up to their name and fixed their S, but at this point I know better than to expect a fix.

Just wanted to post that the fix for this 'bug' is to ensure that 'Stop Guiding When Mount Slews' is always enabled in PHD2 Advanced Settings.  This will drive a person crazy if it is not...
