Since upgrading to the newest PHD2 version (2.6.5) when I connect to my ASI385MC camera using the ZWO ASI Camera driver that I usually use, the first frame loops and displays fine (all bright and faint stars shown) but all subsequent frames are very dark, with only the few very brightest stars being visible. I now have to connect with the ASI Camera (1) (ASCOM) driver, which works fine, with all frames showing the proper brightness and range of stars not just the first frame. Anyone else having this problem or know how to correct this?

thanks, Keith

Keith,

What version were you using before you upgraded to 2.6.5?

Keith,

If you have a chance, could you please run the following quick experiment.

Connect the ZWO camera in native mode ("ZWO ASI Camera") in v2.6.5.  Loop exposures until you see the effect you are describing then click Stop. From the menu select File > Save Image, and save the image.

Next, install v2.6.4. Do not un-install anything, just install over 2.6.5.   Again, connect the camera in native mode loop, exposures, wait for a few exposures to confirm it is acting differently, then click Stop.  Again, save the image using File > Save Image.

Finally, upgrade back to 2.6.5 (do not uninstall, just run the 2.6.5 installer to upgrade.)

Please zip the images and attach them to your reply.

Hi Andy,

Did some more exploration and an odd thing was that the ZWO driver was working properly on another laptop, therefore it had to be something specific to my setup on the first laptop. I started by deleting my dark libraries, and then updated the ZWO ASI camera driver to the latest version from the ZWO site, and I'm happy to report that this seems to have fixed the problem. Looks like it wasn't a PHD2 problem. Thanks for taking the time to try to help.

By the way Andy, I want to thank you for including the following in 2.6.5:

Dither settling now ignores dec distance when dec guide mode is None

I was one of the people who requested this because I use an AstroTrac that guides in RA only. And it's timely because I'm just heading down south on an imaging trip next month with my AstroTrac.

thanks again,
Keith

Keith,

Thanks for closing the loop on this; I'm glad to hear the problem is resolved.

I hope you have a successful imaging trip.

Andy
