Hey there,
I'm quite a noob when it comes to Linux and I feel a little bit lost atm.  I was trying to remove PHD2 from my system in order to install a newer version, but I just don't know how to accomplish this. I've also tried just to install the newer version following the instructions in the download section on the homepage, but when I open the program, it's still the old version.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings Ben

Ben,

Since you are using a version of Ubuntu (Lubuntu), enable Patrick Chevally's launchpad repository with:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pch/phd2

followed by

sudo apt update

and then

sudo apt install phd2

Patrick keeps this repository up to date, and it's the easiest way to install PHD2 for Ubuntu and derivatives.

Many thanks!
It did get the update on phd2 and installed it. Unfortunately it still opens the old version of phd. Never mind. I will reinstall the whole system. Wanted to do this anyway. Again, thanks for your help!

The deb file from the PPA install in /usr/bin/.
If you previously install from source you may have an old version in another location, probably /usr/local.
Look if you have the file phd2 and phd2.bin in /usr/local/bin/ and remove them.
