Hello,

I'm still learning how to use PHD2 with my EQ6R pro mount. I'm wondering if anyone with more knowledge to help me out with reading the PHD graphs while guiding as well as the Log files from nights of guiding, it all seems overwhelming to me and don't quite understand what is good or bad and what can be done for improvements while guiding. I try to use the PHD best practices from the PDF. I haven't noticed any significant star trailing in my exposures, which are 3 mins, but would like to go longer, 5-7 mins. What can be improved with my guiding to go for longer exposures. I've attached 2 log files of guiding from March of this year at the bottom here, would someone be kind to review it and explain to me what's going on and improvements I could make? I try to be polar aligned the best I can, balance everything to almost perfect on the DEC and slightly heavy on CW side of the RA. My setup is EQ6R pro mount, Explore scientific 102 with ASI294MC Pro, attached with a Starfield 50mm guide scope with ASI120MM Mini guide Cam. I also have my USB hub and powerbox secured to the scope rings so I only have 2 cables running down to computer and power. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my message. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris.  The biggest limitation now is the too-low guide speed used in the mount.  I think you didn’t configure EQMOD according to this document:

https://github.com/OpenPHDGuiding/phd2/wiki/EQASCOM-Settings

I also  wonder if the guide scope/guide camera rotated somewhat after you did your calibration – you can’t let that happen.  In any case, you’re already getting good results, so fixing the guide speed should help even further.
