After "upgrading" from Windows 10 to Windows 11, PHD2 connected (using the native Windows driver) to my Orion StarShoot guide camera displays a wide vertical black band near (but not at) the left edge of the image -- see attachment.  This occurs whether in daylight or at night.  The rotation of the camera makes no change to the location of the black band - it's always vertical near the left edge.  I did notice that changing the exposure time sometimes reduced the width of the visible image on the left side of the black band.  I suspect this issue is something to do with PHD2's stretching of the image.  The visible portions of the image seem to be normal on both sides of the black band.  This problem appears identically in PHD2 on both of my Windows 11 PCs -- Lenovo laptop and telescope-mounted Beelink mini-PC.

When attempting to guide with this banding going on, PHD2 always loses its guide star after a couple of seconds.  It was working normally in Windows 10.

I wanted to try the camera with NINA's imaging to be sure the camera is not the problem, but NINA doesn't seem to detect the Win driver, and the camera's ASCOM driver doesn't register with the ASCOM platform.  I'm searching for an app that will use the Windows camera driver like PHD2 does.

You aren’t likely to find another app because PHD2 uses these cameras in single-exposure mode rather than streaming mode.  The best place to start looking for a solution is with Orion because their device driver may need updates for Windows 11 or it might at least need to be re-installed.  I would try re-installing the drivers as the first step because Windows feature updates are quite happy to step on older drivers. It’s quite unlikely than an application like PHD2 will have any sensitivity to being on Windows 11 rather than Windows 10.

Good luck,

Bruce

Third time is indeed the charm -- at least in this case.  Out of "an abundance of caution" I downloaded and installed the Orion SSAG native driver for the third time and PHD2 now seems to be happy with the camera.  The black band has disappeared, and imaging seems to be normal.  Fingers crossed that this continues!

Interesting.  One of the things that Windows can do is interfere with older driver installations.  If things continue to work, you should be aware of this for future Windows updates as well.
