hi Group,

this is my first post in the Group, so I hope to include all required information so you can hopefully help me.

Attached a link to the log file:  https://openphdguiding.org/logs/dl/PHD2_logs_drCK.zip
the issue occured right at the end.

I use PHD2 version 2.6.9dev4
NINA was guiding and performing dithering without any problem, but a few hours later, the autoguiding hang. When NINA tried to perform dither, NINA informs about an error (PHDerror: Cannot initiate dither while dither is in progress) and this error appears again after 5 minutes (the exposure time).
When analysing PHD2 screen after the hang occurs, I see that no new captures are taking (the graph does not move, and no guiding is present). . It's like stopped, but the icons on the lower bar say that guiding is ongoing.
If I press "Stop", the message "waiting for device" appears...and stays forever. I must close PHD2 to restart from scratch. I also get the message "are you sure that you want to leave during a running capture?".

Regarding the equipment used, this is the set up:
Lunatico 60mm (f/3.9) with QHY290mm
Mount: Losmandy G11 with Astro-Electronic FS2
Mount connected to PHD as Ascom "Advanced LX200 telescope" (no auxiliary mount)
NINA 1.10 HF2 on a HP Pavilion with Intel i7 adn Windows 10.

This problem happens a few times per night and I need to reboot PHD2 to get the control back.
It seems to happen at the end of the dithering. But you might be able to see more in the Logs.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!

best regards
Juanma Rivero

Hi Juan.  You should ask for help on this on the NINA forum.  This problem was caused by a bug in NINA that was fixed sometime fairly recently, probably in the last month.  They can probably tell you what release of NINA is required.  Going forward, problems with dithering and settling should be directed to whatever application you’re using for your imaging automation – those apps are in control of all the details involved with dithering and settling even though PHD2 is providing the machinery for getting the job done.
