Hello everbody,

Looks like Tobias Erichsen has taken down its version of rtpMIDI to
update it. I'm not entirely sure why one would have to do that but I
guess it's his decision.

We've just received an email from one of our users asking for a good
alternative to it. And so far I haven't found one that is quite as
simple to use as rtpMIDI. Do you know any working solutions to
establish a MIDI connection to an iOS device on Windows wirelessly?

Best,

Sebastian

That's too bad because it was a good concept, just needed some work. I
haven't been able to find any alternatives either - hopefully someone
will make one.

Try www.copperlan.com, Copperlan Manager is multi-plateform (PC, MAC iPad), multi-computer (with autosync screen) 100% compatible with all software, ..... and free

Hi

to what extent Copperlan is actually iOS? I thought their apps currently are only controller
for an existing Copperlan network?

Is there anything like an app which bridges Copperlan to Core MIDI on iOS?

It would be also interesting if a similar bridge could be done for Audiobus on iOS.

Further, why not have a direct Copperlan SDK available on iOS?

Anybody from Copperlan listening here?

Cheers
Rolf

I can confirm that the copperlan drivers work for Network MIDI - good find! I didn't know it was free and usable without their hardware.

Rolf, it's just the rtpMIDI protocol (the same as Apple uses for Network MIDI).. There's no reason why you couldn't send MIDI from a Mac to a PC or vice versa using this. RTP-MIDI is a public domain protocol, there's nothing closed source about it. Why would we need a Copperlan SDK for that?

Audiobus works over MIDI, right? It should work, as long as the bandwidth isn't too much for wifi..

So, you mean rtpMIDI is used by Core MIDI network and Copperlan?
That would mean they are compatible? Have no Copperlan gear here.

AudioBus stepped away from re-using MIDI doing their own stuff. But I
leave it to Michael & Sebastian to disclose more ;-)

Yeah, I was going to say ... I believe it's using mach ports. I
really hope that means we can have background OSC so that OSC can be
something more than a high-latency curiosity. :-)

Yeah, that's right. You don't need any Copperlan hardware to use the software. Only a network connection.
