Hey Zach,
I'd love to help but time is a little short this week and next.
I think NCE is what you will want (That's the older pc software?). You need to find the file that it tries to serve to the node, rename it to something like .bak and drop the pathway bin there (I think, I'm not sure if this is recoverable) Let me ask around.

Sounds easy enough. Can I use the latest version of the binary file from pathport?

Take the Binary from Pathway Manager Firmware File and put it in the Firmware file of ETC Updator-ator. You will need to look at the node firmware file name and then match them. Updator-ator will push the update to the node, then you will have to use Pathport Manager to update the settings.--

I've been told by Pathway tech support that this upgrade is possible, however, no one I can find online has come forward with instructions on how to conduct this upgrade. Because of the original OEM agreement with ETC, Pathway can't assist in this upgrade without written permission from ETC. Sadly, ETC won't give out that permission. I was hoping I could find someone here to help me with this little project. Here is a link to an online forum that sparked my interest in this upgrade. Thanks!Zach
