Hi everyone!

I'm doing some research and wanted to ask if anyone already did this:

The Raspberry PI can write serial data over it's GPIOs, so it should be possible to output a dmx signal (using some converter to get rs485). Did someone build and document this? Is there a plugin/driver for OLA to support that?

(The Raspberry would make a cheap ArtNet node with this ;-), although I understand the circuits should be isolated and there would be problems with operating system interrupts...)

Side question: I'm looking for a relatively cheap Artnet node which supports multiple universes and can involve some DIY. I know of the Radig Artnet node, but are there other similar projects going on, preferably with multiple universes?

Thanks and best,
Benni.

Yes, it's the uartdmx plugin. Richard has a write up at

3 universes on Arduino Mega + ethershield + dmx shield

Cheers.
