Has anyone tried rooting an Android phone lately?  :)

I'm currently playing around with Galaxy X I9003 + Android Froyo 2.2 but decided to not do a permanent root just yet. I did a "shell root", a temporary rooting method having the stock "su" replaced with a root-enabled "su". Temporary root will be gone once I reboot the device.

Primary purpose was to find a way to do a "reverse USB tether" and also to have ad hoc wifi support because stock Android just doesn't have ad hoc wifi enabled just yet. Kaso, I think i need to have this go into permanent rooting..

Any thoughts? Regards!

Hello Sir Vidor :)

SuperOneClick gihapon akong gamit pero wala pa ko nag-permanent root. Slow, sure steps ba :). heheh sayang warranty sa galaxy nga 1 year.

The reason nga gatest ko ug reverse tether kay wala koy access point dinhi sa balay and wanna use my laptop wireless as bridge (reverse wifi tether) or via USB na lang ko (reverse USB tether). I also have no plans of changing OS roms kay nice kaayo ang samsung nga stock ROM (DXKB2) ok na man ilang mga management apps pud. Kani ra gyud adhoc support ang wala :) Also haven't tested the VPN capability yet.

Unsa imong gamit SSH when in android? I use ConnectBot for now.
