Both Bugzilla and Redmine have good git integration, that should be
helpful.

As a new joinee to the group, wanted to do some bug scrub and understand the fix made. 

Having Bugzilla would be great, to track enhancements or a defect.

Bugzilla may have it's issues, but you probably cannot make much wrong using it. Not to forget that it's free (in the GNU sense) software. If you feel confident setting up some mysql database, an Apache Webserver with modperl, and a few CGI files, you should be successful setting up bugzilla. The documentation is rather good.

Since you are using Google Groups... how about code.google.com?  There is an issue tracker with the project you create.  Mind you, I found this group by following links from sf.net to your .org site and then here, so if you aren't using sf.net you might not want to use another project hosting site either.  In which case... something like Bugzilla or Mantis ( http://www.mantisbt.org/ ) might fit the bill for hosting on  http://www.open-iscsi.org.
