Job Description:
Apply a comprehensive understanding of firewall technologies and concepts with a focus on CheckPoint and Palo Alto. This includes a basic understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network monitoring and management. Experience with upgrading, patching, and maintaining Checkpoint and Palo Alto network infrastructure. Also requires a basic understanding of Cloud based firewall technologies. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members on larger projects and broader issues.
Responsibilities:
· Upgrading, patching and maintaining global production firewalls from Check Point R81+ (3200, 3600, 5600, 6800, Maestro) and Palo Alto (v9.1.3+)
· Monitoring and maintaining Zscaler Cloud firewall policies
· Rapid response to active threats being reported including IP blocking and IPS maintenance
· Supporting new firewall deployments and upgrades to existing infrastructure
· Daily activities would include:
o Track, update, document and resolve all assigned incidents and change tickets via ServiceNow ensuring solutions and support meet proper SLA
o Coordinates with other departments in order to understand and meet their requirements
o Troubleshoot network problems, schedule upgrades, network hardware refresh projects, and perform network analysis and optimization
o Provide escalation support of network infrastructure issues reported to the network group and follow up as necessary
o Manage day-to-day calls and tickets for various engineering and troubleshooting tasks
· Detect and remediate security vulnerabilities within the firewall infrastructure
· Manage production changes and tickets for our data centers
· Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required
· Manage co-location and disaster recovery facilities
· Take over daily maintenance activities related to the global firewall infrastructure including:
o Log maintenance
o Reporting
o Auditing
o Create/modify firewall rules based on user requirements
o Manage day-to-day calls and tickets for various engineering and troubleshooting tasks
Qualifications:
· 4 years of experience working with CheckPoint and Palo Alto firewalls
· 2 years of experience with cloud-based firewalls (Preferably Zscaler)
· Comprehensive knowledge of Check Point and Palo Alto technologies and protocols including, Site-to-site VPN, IPS, Content/URL filtering, and Application Control
· Experience upgrading, patching, and maintaining Check Point and Palo Alto firewalls
· Experience working with the following network management platforms: SolarWinds Orion, NCM, NPM, and IPAM
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy required
· Proficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language required
