Hello, all,

I am working on my session materials for the upcoming conference, and one of the reports I want to demonstrate is based off the Classic Item List source.  Katherine had warned me that this source list and the other "Classic" source lists are not available to non-PINES libraries even though they are visible.   Before scrapping my current documentation and starting all over again, I just wanted to double check that this correct.

I am particularly interested in running a report using the Dewey Hundreds and Tens fields, which is available through the Classic Item List.  I am pretty sure that these fields are not available in the regular ol' Item Source List. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Would one of y'all running 1.6 be kind enough to check their ability to run reports on the Classic Item list?

I am also curious if 2.0 might allow access even if 1.6 does not, so it would be great if someone running 2.0 could check for me, too.

Thanks so very much for the help!

Cristina

I’ve tried in 1.6 with no luck.  If anyone else would like to try, I used the following example report provided by Katherine:

From the Classic Circulation View template source:

Display:

Library Circulation Location Short (Policy) Name; data = text; transform = raw data ---- Circulation Date/Time; data = timestamp; transform = Year + Month ---- Dewey Block--Hundreds; data = text; transform = Raw Data ---- Circulation; data = id; transform = Count Distinct

Base Filters:

Circulation Date/Time; transform = Year+Month; Operator = In List ---- Library circulation Location Link; transform = Raw Data; Operator = In List

I have the report set up on our test 2.0 system, but reports seem to be hung on it (unrelated to this report, since they don’t seem to have generated output since Friday). Once that is up and running again, I’ll see if I have better luck on the newer system.

I ran this on our 1.6 I received the following error.

failed: ERROR:  relation "reporter.classic_item_list" does not exist

Thanks, Lynn and Jennifer, for trying it out on 1.6.

Now to find out if it works on 2.0....

Thanks again for the help,
Cristina

Reports are back up and running on our 2.0 test system.  When I attempted the “classic circulation” report I ran on 1.6, I received the same type of error:

DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: relation "reporter.classic_current_circ" does not exist LINE 5: FROM reporter.classic_current_circ AS "3ab8a993e187c3fada2... ^ at /openils/bin/clark-kent.pl line 217.

So, it looks like we are out of luck.  I wonder if there is any way to make similar report sources functional for the larger Evergreen community.  The “Dewey Range” functionality seems like it would be useful.

Hi, Jenny,

Thanks for testing it out.  Having the Dewey Range is really helpful.  However, don't be jealous quite yet.  Now that I have recreadted my report using the standard Item Source, I have found that there is actual some bug in the Use Count field for the Classic Item List.  It is a bit frustrating since that is the source list I use a lot.  Alas, that it a help desk ticket waiting to be written!

Thanks again for the help,
Cristina
