Wow this is an interesting hack :

Twitter inventor with new start up for processing credit card
transactions on an iPhone. Get this the car swiper dongle connects to
the iPhone via the audio input jack! That I think is a cool idea for
a couple of reasons:
1) transmitting data over an audion connector - thats smart.
2) It should be able to operate on other mobile phones, i.e. universal
peripheral great out of the box thinking
