Hello *,

I thought I introduce myself properly. I'm a pipeline TD at Aardman
Animations, and the past week I've been busy compiling GTO and fitting
it into our pipeline for evaluation. So far, I've managed to build
the whole source tree, including python wrapping, Renderman plugin
(using Renderman 15), and all the Maya plugins, including those
commented out (we use Maya 2009 here). It took quite some patching to
get the whole thing to build using gcc 4.1.2, on 64 bit, but I
managed.

I hear that somebody on this list has fixed the deformer plugin to
include transformations ... I would be very interested in that fix.

Also, if anyone can make use of changes/patches I've made to the GTO
source or automake files so far, I'm willing to share my work.

With kind regards,

Michael

Hi Michael. I'm currently with Tippett Studio, formerly at Tweak. I
originally made most of the autoconf stuff in the current GTO distro,
though it's certainly quite stale by now. If you send me your
patches, I'll merge it all into the official distro.

As it happens, I also re-wrote the GtoDeformer plugin to include
transforms only last week. I ended up re-writing from scratch, as we
had several other requirements I had to meet, but I don't think it'll
be hard to put the relevant stuff into the opensource plugin. I'll be
working on it this weekend.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi Mike,

I'll make sure to construct a patch that is meaningful to others and
does not contain any stuff that's specific to our pipeline, and send
it to you later today. Are you also interested in the changes I made
to the code? There were quite some missing pieces in the Maya plugins
for particle caching, displaying and emitting, which I replaced (lots
of missing Twk*.h headers and related source) -- to my best knowledge
I managed to re-construct what the missing parts did originally. Let
me know.

With kind regards,

Michael
