The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform will host an Open Data event on Tuesday 30th June (5pm - 8pm) in the Atrium, D/Justice and Equality, 51 St Stephen’s Green.
This event, which is aimed at public bodies, business, researchers and civil society, will help inform the development of Ireland’s Open Data Strategy and will complement a consultation process on this important matter, which will be launched in June 2015.
Open Data is an important element of a range of Public Service initiatives, including the Public Service Reform Plan, eGovernment 2012-2015, the Action Plan for Jobs, the ICT Strategy, and the Open Government Partnership Action Plan. In addition to the benefit in terms of increased openness and transparency, studies indicate that publication of official non-personal data in Open Data format has the potential for significant economic, social and political impact in terms of the potential for its re-use. Furthermore, the data standards that open data drives public bodies to adopt, can significantly enhance the value and utility of public service data that can potentially be shared between public bodies.
A detailed programme for the event is attached.
We would be delighted if you were able to participate. You may register for this event at https://ti.to/opendatainitiative/open-data-event
