Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of
Open Ephys GUI v1.1 and
Acquisition Board plugin v2.0.
One of the most important updates in GUI v1.1 is the optimized recording backend. A single Record Node can now comfortably write 10,000+ channels in parallel, making data acquisition more scalable than ever before. These changes should also improve performance when recording from any number of electrodes, by reducing the likelihood of buffer filling.
On the visualization side, the updated LFP display refreshes much more smoothly, uses less memory, and can draw more channels per square inch of screen space. We also improved the rendering of low-sample-rate signals, thanks to a PR from @roberttoth02, and added optional built-in filtering and common average referencing to each display.
We also added the ability to split the Data Viewport horizontally as well as vertically, and migrated the Plugin Installer to a searchable, table-based layout.
The new Acquisition Board plugin, available through the Plugin Installer, has a more logical editor layout and starts up much faster, especially on Mac and Linux. Please be aware that this plugin requires a new driver and a gateware upload. See the
gateware update page for instructions.
Overall, these updates are recommended for all users, and should improve performance regardless of your electrodes or acquisition system.
Don’t hesitate to post on
Discord or reach out to
g...@open-ephys.org if you run into any issues while upgrading.
Best,
Josh & Anjal
