Hi,
I am attempting to set up NeuroNexus probes with an OpenEphys board (https://open-ephys.org/acquisition-system/acquisition-board); however, the GUI is saying "Acquisition Board Not Found" (photo included). I looked at a similar post. from 2021 and followed the steps but that didn't fix anything--the console window in my case is also not reporting anything.

I am assuming it's a simple fix, but I am new to setting up these kinds of systems so any help/guidance would be appreciated. Also happy to provide more information if needed. Thanks!

Hi Arnav,

The "OE FPGA Acquisition Board" plugin only works with boards that use the new custom FPGA module designed by Open Ephys. These are boards that shipped from December 2022 onwards. If your board is older than that, then it will have the Opal Kelly FPGA. These older devices work with a different "Acquisition Board" plugin that can be installed by installing the "Rhythm Plugins" from the Plugin Installer.

If your device is newer and uses the Open Ephys FPGA, then make sure you have the necessary drivers installed and your board is on the latest gateware as mentioned in the docs here: https://open-ephys.github.io/acq-board-docs/User-Manual/New-FPGA.html

Hi Anjal,

Thanks for the response! I downloaded the plug-ins and everything worked for a while until the OpenEphys GUI crashed. On restart it is once again giving the same board-not-found error despite the fact that the plug-ins/drivers are still installed.

Just to clear things up,  you have the Opal Kelly version of the board and you installed the Rhythm Plugins from Plugin Installer and then used the "Acquisition Board" plugin instead of the "OE FPGA Acquisition Board" plugin, right?

Also, can you share the signal chain config you used when the GUI crashed and the log file from the crash as well? Log files are located in "C:\ProgramData\Open Ephys\configs-api8" (ProgamData is a hidden system directory).
