Hi all,

I encountered some problem with the Channel Map plugin.
I am testing the 0.6.0 and 0.6.1 version of the GUI with a 32 -channel linear probes, to record spontaneous activities.
With this new version of the software, it seems that the plugin dont loaded the maps in the right way.
Whenever trying to load a map, regardless of the version of the software with which it is created, the software rename on the plugin every channel adding a "+1" to the position of each channel and, in addition, if you start the acquisition with this mapping, the LFP viewer shows completely empty tracks.

Just created (with version 0.6.1) the map seems correct and the viewer works properly but as soon as you try to reload the same map, I meet the same error.
It seem that the problem resides in the file creation phase.

Using the new files on a older version bring to the program crash.

Attached I add the two rows of tested mapping: E32_old (the old map used until the version 0.5 and created with 0.4) and E32_new (created with the version 0.6.1)

Hi Alessandro,

As fas as i understand, the mapping in Open-ephys starts at one, not at zero. You will have to add +1 to every number in your channel map. Find attached an example

Hi Joe,

Thank you for you answer!

The problem is that he still adds a +1 to me for each voice of the list therefore, in my case, I should remove rather than add.
The version I have always used and which seems correct to me is the one shown in figure "E32_old" and there I never had to add anything.

With which version did you create your map?
Because looking at it (with Notepad++) it seems to me that, compared to mine created with version 0.6.x, it has many more voices and is similar to the version I created with 0.4.x (such as: "reference" or "ref")

HI Alessandro

I created the files with OpenEphys version 0.5 (Mac and Win versions), I plan to test in version 0.6 on Linux as soon as I get a machine.

Hi Alessandro,

In v0.6.x, we simplified the Channel Map plugin to so it can only reorder or remove channels, with referencing now handled by other plugins (e.g. Common Average Ref). The v0.6.x settings file cannot be loaded in v0.5.x because it's missing this referencing info.

We also made it so that all config files store channel numbers with 0-based indexing. We realize this may be confusing in some cases, but we decided it's better to be consistent about this.

The "E32_new" channel map you shared looks correct—I was able to load  in v0.6.x without any issues.

If you're still having trouble loading those config files, you can also export the Channel Map settings (or the settings for any plugin) by right-clicking on the plugin editor's title bar and selecting "Save settings…". This will generate an XML settings file just for that plugin, which can be loaded by any other plugin of the same type.

Hope that helps!

Josh
