Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to replace a sample in the open electribe editor and keep the pattern/part usage data.  For instance, I want to replace the voice samples but have them still be played in same patterns the factory data specifies.

Cheers,
Clayton

Thanks for signing up for the group.

I was going to answer "yes, you can do that", but I just checked the program (and the code), and it looks like that functionality was never enabled.

I do have a setting in the code called "sync samples/patterns on move", but it looks like it's defaulted to true (and there's no way to change it).

I had meant to make that an editable preference.

Anyways, I don't think this will be hard to add.  I just need to make the "sync" values a preference, and do some testing.

Here's one of the files that uses the "sync" settings:

Anyways, if you get a chance, log a bug at Github, and I can try to work on this.

Actually, there *is* a way to do what you asked, but it requires specific settings.

When you "delete" a sample, the patterns that used the sample still point to that slot.  So if you load a sample in the exact same spot, then patterns will still point to it.

The issue is that when you "move" a sample, the patterns that use the sample will "follow" where that sample moved.

I'm not being very clear, but try this:

2) View the patterns tab.
3) Select pattern "A01 - House1".
4) Select the "Parts" tab in the "Selected Patterns" section.
5) Confirm that Drum1 points to sample BD-3
6) Now click on the samples tab
7) Delete sample "002 - BD-3"
8) Load any MONO sample from your hard drive
9) Follow steps 2-5, but confirm that the pattern is now pointing to the sample you just loaded

The problem is when you "move" samples, the patterns will follow the move.  That is, unless I make the preference I spoke about in my last email "editable".

Hope that makes sense.

Take care!

Awesome, I'll try to figure this out.
Your project and responses are much appreciated!
The software has really helped me understand the Electribe and its inner workings.

That method works; thanks again.
