hello, i'm a esx starter and i have quite of questions, do anyone knows if there is a max. lasting for one sample? i'm trying to put a sample of 6 seconds and neither the program nor the esx can import it. it's strange because i import shorter samples (like a bassdrums) and the esx allows it and also i record with the machine(with the audio in) a larger sample(arround 10 seconds) and esx did it. the problem came when i try to import them from the computer. sorry if it's a tipical question but i could`t find it on the web. thanks

Hello, I don't know what the limit is, but I've put 20sec and longer
samples in and there was no problem.
check your bit depth (has to be 16) sampling rate (44100), and esx
likes to have its samples MONO

if you want to keep longer, or more sounds in, I often down-convert to
32kHz sampling - for many sounds, in the mix, you can't really hear
any difference and you get additional 25% sample space (and you can
fit many shorter sounds at full quality for each longer sample)

Like filip stated, there shouldn't be a limit (besides the 285 seconds total).  You do need your file to be 8 or 16 bit (not 24 bit).

If you need to convert your file, you can use the free program called Audacity, or even use a command line tool like ffmpeg to do the conversion for you.

Also, samples in this program (open electribe editor) automatically go into the mono or stereo section. So sometimes if you import a stereo sample, you may not realize it because it imports in the stereo part (so you have to scroll down past the 256 mono samples to see it).

There are also some online conversion tools that I have found in the past (but don't have a link handy).  If you try all of the above, and it's still not working, try uploading the sample that won't import somewhere, and send me a link.  I can try to figure it out from there.

Good luck...

thanks to all!!! the problem was the bit depth it was 32bit instead of 16. i don't know why, but cubase exports sometimes on 32 and others on 16 (like the bassdrum samples i said). i think it happens only when i export a synth midi part. now i'm getting to explore the possibilities of this machine : )

thanksssss
