to Open Design Water Purification System
Michael Koch pointed me to the Oregon State University Engineers
Without Borders group, which led me to the following link.

I really like their CWP design for several reasons. First, it is
simple, inexpensive, and easy to manufacture locally. Second, it is
an open design. Third, it is effective (okay, maybe that should have
been first). The "How To" page on the Potters website has some great
documentation.

I'm wondering if there are things we could do to support this design.
Not sure what that would encompass. I'll try to contact Potters for
Peace to see if there is any type of assistance they need. One
thought is to translate documents into other languages. It looks like
there are good documents about setting up the manufacturing process.
I'm wondering if there is need for open design for some of the
manufacturing equipment. Perhaps this is getting a bit off track from
water purification, but it all supports the same purpose.

I was chatting with a co-worker at lunch today and he pointed out that
there are various ways that water could be polluted. There are many
biological hazards, but what about something like arsenic or mineral
contamination? So my thought is that there will probably be multiple
solutions or maybe a modular system to apply the appropriate
treatment.
