Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that our second meetup is on this coming Thursday. Please sign up here and tell anyone you know who is interested in Open Data about it - http://meetup.opendata.ie/

The first meetup was a great starting point, and we really need to make sure we keep the momentum going. So, please, tweet, fb, email people about it… or you can just RT this https://twitter.com/EamonLeonard/status/270525695711666176

Cheers,
Eamon.

Hi all,

I am totally looking forward to Thurs...

As "food for thought"  ... I strongly recommend a beautiful piece by Guillermo Moncecchi,  (Head of IT, Montevideo):

we should understand that data is mainly infrastructure. People do things on it, as they do things on roads, bridges or parks. For money, for amusement, for philanthropy, there are myriads of uses for infrastructure: we should not try to determine or even guess which those uses are. We must just provide the infrastructure and ensure it will be available. Open data should be seen as a component of an effort to build a public digital infrastructure, where people could, within the law, do whatever they want.

Please follow / tweet / re-tweet #opendataIRL ...

(I've marked the event on the "open source" global calender http://lanyrd.com/2012/open-data-ireland-meetup-2/)

Hi all,

I'm delighted to say that the Dublinked event on Thursday morning is over-subscribed.

So if you were too late booking for that, sign up now for the Meetup on Thursday evening at http://meetup.opendata.ie/

See you at either or both!

Regards,

Dominic.

We currently have 52 people registered for the second Open Data Ireland meetup on Thursday evening.

With a final push we should be able to get this to 70, between now and then.

Designers, Developers, Journalists, Civil Servants, Data Geeks, Students, Academics and Random Joes are all welcome.

Cheers,
Eamon.

Hi all,

A fantastic Open Data day yesterday.

The Dublinked Using Public Data to Drive Innovation event was our best attended event yet - over 120 people in a lovely venue in Science Gallery.

And that was followed by another successful Open Data Ireland meetup last night - great speakers, great hospitality and another great venue - thanks to Eamon Leonard once again for hosting and Denis Parfenov for keeping it all on track.

I've captured the Tweets from the night at http://storify.com/FingalOpenData/2nd-open-data-ireland-meetup

Looking forward to the next meetup in January and seeing can we get some discussion going on areas of interest.

Regards,

Dominic.
