Is there anyone in this group currently working with City Scrapers or considering doing so?

I'm exploring whether scraping could be used by cities/counties in California. Because of a volunteer role I have with the League of Women Voters of San Francisco, I'm trying to make it easier to observe policing-related government meetings and their tool could help (though their "documenters" are more like journalists than we'd like). I'd love to talk with folks who are getting to know the tool.

Thanks for helping me connect to scrapers!

Jennifer:

I'm not actively involved in that project, but I'm on the board of City Bureau and happy to see their work spreading...

if you don't get responses here, I'm pretty sure they'd welcome you on the City Bureau Slack, where there's a channel specifically about the scrapers project.

Let me know if you want to check that out...

Peter Bucchianeri is a postdoc at Vanderbilt, recently graduated from Harvard. His dissertation used scrapers to extract roll-call data from these off-the-shelf data management sites. Check him out. Very nice guy, very helpful. http://www.peterbucchianeri.com
