Hi everybody!
I'd like to start a discussion about how I view this series of sites,
but all of this can change of course. First, comes the Wiki at
http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/, which currently
consists of all of the latest LCRIs (from the list taken from the list
of latest RI), plus my own comments to problems I found.
http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/current-lcris

Added to this are the links into the latest ISBD, to make it more
useful. http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/isbd-areas,
then simply a listing of different guides for cataloging on the web,
placing them for further work at: http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/cataloging-ru.
[do we need a page that discusses what are the LCRIs and their
relationship to AACR2, and the relationship of ISBD to AACR2?]

Becky Yoose is putting up an index at
http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/subject-list-for-autocat-messages,
which could wind up being very useful as a kind of index to the site,
but the more I look at it, it could also become a type of Wikipedia
for catalogers, which I hadn't thought of before.

The other section, the Conceptual Outline,
http://sites.google.com/site/opencatalogingrules/conceptual-outline is
a complete experiment, to try to provide a ground for discussion.
There is also the blog and of course, this part.

Right now, I think that the major discussions should take place here,
any decisions in the Wiki, and the Blog for news and announcements,
but of course, it might turn out in some other way!

Any thoughts on this. What is missed?

It's interesting that you mention a "Wikipedia for catalogers" in
regards to the subject list, since I was looking at LISWiki (http://
liswiki.org/wiki/Main_Page) as an earlier home to the index list.

I am indeed working on the index/subject list, but please feel free to
go ahead and add/edit anything in there. I'm still playing around with
the format, and I'm sure that there is still some items that need to
be added to the list.

While some individual subject pages are more definition-based (ex.
organizations, standards overview and history), I am looking at adding
some wisdom from AUTOCAT on other individual subject pages that deal
more with specific rules and standards. However, I'm still trying to
work out how that wisdom should be displayed. Again, if any of you
have any thoughts, go right ahead and play around on the pages!

Thanks, Becky

Thanks for mentioning this Becky. I've added the link to LISWiki to
CCRW under "Cataloging Rules" (which is wrong, but it's searchable and
can be moved somewhere else).
