Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PeopleSoft Payroll Functional Analyst to support a large-scale statewide ERP environment based on PeopleSoft HCM 9.2. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting Payroll, Human Resources, Time & Labor, and related modules, along with strong functional and technical knowledge of PeopleSoft applications.

This role will be responsible for payroll operations support, system configuration, workflow management, production support, troubleshooting, reporting, year-end processing, and collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Functional Support

  • Provide day-to-day support for PeopleSoft HCM Payroll 9.2.
  • Troubleshoot payroll processing issues, calculation errors, retro pay, tax discrepancies, and integration failures.
  • Support complete payroll cycles including:
    • Pay Calendars
    • Paysheets
    • Payroll Calculation
    • Confirmation
    • Post-Confirmation Auditing
  • Configure and maintain payroll setup tables including:
    • Earnings Codes
    • Deduction Codes
    • Garnishments
    • Tax Setup
    • Pay Groups

Payroll Operations & Compliance

  • Support quarterly payroll tax reconciliations (941).
  • Perform Calendar Year-End (CYE) activities.
  • Validate and reconcile W-2 processing.
  • Support W-2/W-3 filing activities.
  • Assist with tax updates and regulatory compliance.
  • Support Fiscal Year-End processing activities.

PeopleSoft Functional Configuration

  • Configure and maintain:
    • Job Codes
    • Positions
    • Departments
    • Compensation Structures
    • Commitment Accounting
    • Approval Workflows
  • Perform system configuration changes and enhancements.

Workflow & Approval Management

  • Configure and maintain Approval Workflow Engine (AWE).
  • Manage workflow routing, approvals, notifications, and user roles.
  • Troubleshoot workflow issues and support business process automation.

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Develop and troubleshoot:
    • PS Queries
    • Payroll Reports
    • Data Validation Reports
    • BI Publisher Reports
    • SAP Business Objects Reports
  • Support audit requests and data analysis activities.

Production Support

  • Monitor payroll batch jobs and scheduled processes.
  • Identify and resolve production issues.
  • Manage incidents through ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
  • Coordinate with support vendors and technical teams for issue resolution.

Testing & Documentation

  • Prepare Functional Design Documents (FDDs).
  • Develop test scripts and support UAT activities.
  • Validate system enhancements, patches, and upgrades.
  • Maintain system documentation and configuration records.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Payroll, HR, Technical Teams, and Business Stakeholders.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements.
  • Support statewide agencies and end users.
  • Provide training, guidance, and knowledge transfer.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of PeopleSoft HCM Payroll experience.
  • 8+ years of Payroll Functional Support experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • PeopleSoft HCM 9.2
    • Payroll Module
    • Approval Workflow Engine (AWE)
    • Application Designer
    • Integration Broker
    • SQL
    • SQR
    • BI Publisher
    • SAP Business Objects
  • Experience supporting payroll tax processes, W-2, and 941 reconciliations.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM), Fluid UI, and Elasticsearch.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and Incident Management processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide ERP environments.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting State Government ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting large multi-agency environments.
  • Experience with CAPPS (Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System).
  • Experience with Fiscal Year-End and Calendar Year-End processing.
  • Knowledge of State payroll and HR policies.
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery testing and production support activities.
