Hi all,

Posting a link to a survey that folks associated with SLAS and the Acceleration Consortium are running to help develop better education frameworks for automation. If you have some time, it could help them understand the automation landscape. See below:

Biotech researchers: Want to weigh in on educational guidelines for lab automation? Take a few minutes to check out the below…

🚀 Help shape the future of laboratory automation in biotechnology education and careers!

Whether you work with automation every day or occasionally, early in your career or a seasoned expert, your perspective is valuable to help develop the first education guidelines in laboratory automation. With just 10 minutes, you can help ensure guidelines reflect the actual skills and competencies required by jobs today and address real barriers to effective training.

This effort is being led by Kennedy McDaniel Bae, Ph.D. and Josh Kangas, with support from SLAS, the Acceleration Consortium, and a committee of 11 experts from academia and industry who will help shape guidelines based on survey input.

💼What will this industry-focused survey will inform?
-A career framework for automation, mapping common roles and experience tiers across industries, including biotech.
-These survey results will be synthesized and analyzed alongside an educator-focused survey we will be releasing next month.
-Together, they will be used to design the framework for the 2027 Education Guidelines, which will bridge industry needs with educator capacity.

To ensure transparency and community benefit, all results will be anonymized, synthesized, and shared with the broader community, including organizations helping to disseminate the survey.

⏱️What is the estimated timeline?
-Responses within the next 2 weeks are especially helpful for a preliminary analysis in early December. However, the survey will remain open for at least 2.5 months to maximize participation across the community.
-Final guidelines will be released by January 2027, published on the SLAS website under a CC-BY-license, so they can be freely reused and adapted with attribution credit to the drafting committee.
