Eastern / 16h UK for a discussion with James Baghurt about his ongoing work prototyping low-cost automation tools for use in cloud labs. James and his team have built an API for cloud labs based on plate wells - this seems like a great opportunity to discuss abstraction layers in automation and share what works and what doesn't.
More from James:
I'll demo a prototype of a well-centric API language where experiments
are defined in terms of wells and operations - not plates, grippers, or
motion primitives. I'll also share some ideas about how I'm planning to
publicly test our cloud lab's APIs to find out whether this abstraction
level is the right one for scientists (both human and AI).
