Hi all,

I'm an Archimate novice, so my question pertains to both the language as well as the tool I'm using I guess. I understand Archimate is not meant as a replacement for say UML class diagrams or ER diagrams. However, it would be really convenient if I could include multiplicity constraints and also names at the ends of the relationships between data objects. E.g. how this is done in figure 12 and 19 in the Archimate meta model: see http://pubs.opengroup.org/architecture/archimate3-doc/chap04.html#_Toc451757944 and http://pubs.opengroup.org/architecture/archimate3-doc/chap05.html#_Toc451757951. I'm using Archi by they way.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

You can add labels to connections in Archi.

Hi,

In fact there is no multiplicity at all in ArchiMate. What you refer to in the standard is just a pseudo-UML used to describe ArchiMate metamodel itself, not an actual example of ArchiMate diagram.

That being said, depending of the tool, you might have something that will look like multiplicity (ie. a way to add some labels).

In Archi, the best you can do is to use the relationship label, but there's only one, so you'll have to decide how to use it (maybe mix multiplicity like that: [1:N]) and where to move it (by default it is in the middle, but you can move it on the source or target end).

Regards
